Femina-Pantaloon on look-out for 44th Femina Miss India icon

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Embarking on a joint venture to find the most potent combination of beauty and brains to represent India, Femina and Pantaloon, the two biggest trend-setters of the fashion world, have joined hands in their search for 'The 44th Femina Miss India Pageant icon' this year.

Kishore Biyani, Managing Director, Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited said, ''We (Femina and Pantaloon) feel that both of us would be able to cater to the needs and aspirations of the 'New Indian Woman', who is conscious of her image, fashion, abilities and who plays a big role in the society.

''Together we can unearth the most potent combination of beauty and brains who can later represent the country internationally on the shows such as Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Asia Pacific.'' Having a strong legacy of 44-year old, Femina Miss India is the oldest and the most credible beauty pageant in India while Pantaloon, a fashion store, has 24 stores across the country that extends across 14 cities.

Cabinet nod for incentives to set up semi conductor units

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Cabinet today approved a special incentive scheme to attract investors for setting up semi- conductor fabrication units in the country. Incentives include a direct subsidy of 25 per cent of the capital expenditure incurred during the first 10 years of the project. The Department of IT has proposed that any unit claiming incentives under the package can do so in a combination of equity not exceeding 26 per cent, investment grants and interest subsidy......

No nation-wide search and seizure operations on stock brokers: CBDT

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) today denied reports that nation-wide searches were being conducted by the Income Tax Department on stock brokers or other stock market intermediaries. ''There is no truth in such reports. There are no nation-wide searches being conducted by the Income Tax Department. No searches are being conducted on stock brokers and stock market intermediaries as erroneuosly reported in the media,'' Mr A K Sinha, a spokesman of the CBDT, told.....

Pakistan again asks Kashmiri separatists to unite

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Pakistan today again asked warring Kashmiri separatist groups to forge unity and come on a ''common platform'' in the larger interests of the ''Kashmir cause'', sources said. Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, who held back-to-back meetings with leaders of four separatist groups, asked the secessionists to present a united stand on Kashmir and tried to convince hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani to support the India-Pakistan peace process, they said.
