Fake degree racket busted

Chandigarh, Feb 22 (UNI) The Haryana police has busted a gang involved in preparing fake degrees and certificates in Gurgaon.

A police spokesman said a number of fake certificates and degress pertaining to 10th, 10+2 and BA were recovered during a raid in Gurgaon.

During the raid, police arrested one Rajesh Yadav who revealed that they were getting fake certificates and degrees from one Mukesh Fouji of Mathura by paying him Rs 2000 per customer.

He said degrees were being issued after the name of Gurukul Vishavavidalya, Vrindavan and they were charging Rs 6000 for plus two certificate and Rs 12000 for a BA degree.

He said they had sold about 200 fake certificates and degrees to different people.

The spokesman said that further investigation was on and a raiding party had been sent to Gurukul Vishwavidalya, Vrindavan.

8316 litres of spirit seized

Palakkad, Feb 22 (UNI) Excise officials seized 8316 liters of spirit valued about Rs 16 lakhs from Meenakashipuram checkpost in the district. The spirit was being brought in a lorry from Tamil Nadu to Alapuzha district. The spirit was hidden under fish with 252 plastic cans, each containing 33 litres of spirit. Excise officals arrested the lorry driver and the helpers were identified as Subir from Aroor Alapuzha district and P J Shibu belonging to Palluruthy in cochin, officials said. UNI.....

Need more trains and new lines in AP : YSR

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Terming the railway budget for 2007-08 presented by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav as 'pro-poor', Andhra Pradesh Chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy today said more trains and new lines were needed particularly in Visakhapatnam zone as many more SEZs were coming up in the state. According to an official release here, Dr Reddy said the state deserved more from the budget as some of the demands made by the State Government were still to be considered......

Ticketless advocate creates furore at railway station

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) Tension prevailed for a while at the crowded suburb Guindy railway station here last night, when an advocate of Madras High Court was caught by the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) for ticketless travelling. Police said the advocate Sivakumar, who got into train from Egmore without a ticket was caught by the TTE when he alighted the train at Guindy station. The advocate picked up quarell with the TTE by saying that hundreds of people were travelling.....
