CTC variety tea high in demand in Kolkata tea auction market

Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) CTC variety of tea was the main mover and shaker in Kolkata tea auction centre last week ending on February 14, according to a report released by Kolkata Tea Brokers' Statistics department.

The report said there was good demand of CTC variety and 12,27,862.30 kgs tea were sold. This was followed by Dust variety which sold 6,48,282.80 kg.

Orthodox and Darjeeling tea also had good demand.

This week around 72,848 kg of Orthodox variety and 17,954 kgs of Darjeeling tea were sold in the Kolkata market.

In Siliguri market also CTC had good demand.

BSNL repays Rs 2,500 cr loan to govt

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) State-owned telecom major Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd today gave a cheque of Rs 2,500 crore to the Government towards the repayment of loan it took in year 2000. Indian families at financial risk on low saving

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Income in Indian households may have risen sharply in the last few years due to strong economic growth, but they are still at financial risk due to poor saving habits, shows a survey. Timex entails Rs 24 cr investment on expansion

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Watch-maker Timex today said it will invest around Rs 24 crore in setting up a new manufacturing plant, opening around 120 outlets across the country and on marketing operations. ''We would set up a manufacturing plant at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh by investing Rs 10-11 crore which would be functioned by this April,'' company's Vice President Salil Sadanandan told reporters here. Another Rs 10-12 crore will be pumped into marketing and opening around 120 outlets.....
