CCMB to hold three-day international symposium from tomorrow

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Scientistis from various countries will take part in a three-day symposium on Advances in Structural Biology and Structure Prediction here from tomorrow.

Organised by the premier Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and Association for Promotion of DNA Fingerprinting and other DNA Technologies (ADNAT), the symposium would cover a variety of topics on structural biology of cellular processes, structural proteomics of pathogenic organisms, protein engineering and design, X-ray crystallography and NMR studies, Cryoelectron microscopy and tomography studies and methods for structure prediction, a CCMB release here said.

Experts from the US, Switzerland, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Australia and Singapore, besides India working on various cutting-edge research areas of structural biology and structure prediction would share their knowledge and experience.

CCMB Director and ADNAT president Lalji Singh will deliver the presidential address and Prof M Vijayan of the Indian Institute of Science-Bangalore will deliver the keynote address on 'Half a Century of Structural Biology in India: A Personal Perspective' during the inaugural session.

Wellcome Trust Fellow and Group Leader R Sankaranarayanan, and senior scientist from CCMB Dr K Guruprasad will convene the symposium.

Nine killed in a road mishap

Umaria, MP, Feb 23 (UNI) A woman has been killed in an attack by a tigress at forest in the Bandhavgarh National Park in this district, park sources said today.
