Cabinet nod for inclusion of OBCs in central list

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today approved a proposal for inclusion, correction or amendment of the names of the castes and communities on the central lists of other backward castes (OBCs).

The castes and communities pertain to Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tripura, Puducherry, Daman and Diu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

The Cabinet also approved inclusion of additional areas to be declared as Scheduled Areas in respect of Jharkhand under the provisions of Fifth Schedule to the Constitution.

The other areas that would be included in the Schedule are those inadvrtently leftout areas of Udhwa and Mandro Block of District Sahebganj and two Panchayats of Rabda and Bakoria of Block Satbarwa and District Palamu.

Foreign Univs Bill To Ensure Quality

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) A Bill to ensure quality of higher education offered by foreign universities and prevent commercialisation will be introduced in the Budget session of Parliament, it was announced this evening.
