Budget sessions of Bihar Legislatures begin tomorrow

Patna, Feb 22 (UNI) Both Houses of Bihar Legislature are likely to witness stormy budget sessions beginning tomorrow with an address by Governor R S Gavai.

Main Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD), which ran the government for 15 years, had identified issues to be raised during the month-long session of the Assembly and the Council.

RJD leader and former Minister Ramchandra Purbey said inflation, scam in the appointment of teachers and irregularity in the preparation of BPL list are some of the issues his party would like to highlight during the session.

The state government would be put to an acid test over the government ''failure'' to utilise Central fund, sanctioned under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme, and ''poor'' law and order situation,he said.

Mr Purbey alleged that the government had failed in checking the exodus of Bihari labourers to other parts of the country, while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was enjoying his time in laying foundation.

The Opposition was contemplating an adjournment motion on important public interest issues, he added.

As per list business circulated, economic survey report would be tabled before the House on the first day which had been prepared in the model of the Central government.

The budget for 2007-08 is scheduled to be presented on February 26 although indications are there about postponing the exercise by a day to avoid coincidence with the date of presentation of Railway budget in Parliament.

Debate over the motion of thanks on Governor's address will begin February 28 and other routine matters will follow the next month.

The sessions will have 23 working days.
