BSNL repays Rs 2,500 cr loan to govt

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) State-owned telecom major Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd today gave a cheque of Rs 2,500 crore to the Government towards the repayment of loan it took in year 2000.

CMD BSNL A K Sinha and Director Finance BSNL S D saxena presented the cheque to Communications and IT Minsiter Dayanidhi Maran.

The loan was payable over a period of 15 years. However, the company repaid the loan amount ahead of the due date. So far, Rs 4,500 crore has been paid by BSNL towards repayment of loan, a statement said.
