Bomb hoax delays Dadar Express at Panipat

Panipat, Feb 22 (UNI) Close on the heels of the Samjhauta Express blasts, a bomb hoax delayed the Dadar Express at Panipat railway station for about an hour this evening.

All the passengers of the Mumbai-bound train coming from Amritsar were asked to get down at the Panipat railway station following a call by an unidentified person that a bomb was planted on it, GRP DSP Rohtash Ahlawat said.

All the 14 coaches of the train were thoroughly checked by the personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force and no bomb was found, he said.

The train, which arrived at Panipat station at 1843 hrs, finally left for its onward journey at 1938 hrs.

The hoax call was received at the GRP office at Karnal when the train had already left for Panipat, Mr Ahlawat said.

Counseller set on fire by patient

Jabalpur, Mar 6 (UNI) A medical counsellor suffered severe burns after he was set on fire by a suspected AIDS patient at the medical college hospital here today. Police said counsellor Sanjay Shrivastava, who suffered 80 percent burns, was being treated at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College hospital and his condition was serious. 55,000 ration cards set ablaze

Ratlam(MP), Mar 6 (UNI) About 55,000 new ration cards and related documents were gutted in a fire at the municipal office here on the night of 'Holi', police said today. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when employees reached the community hall at Alkapuri, where the documents were kept. Following complaints of bogus ration cards, the authorities started preparation of new ration cards after cancelling the existing one. About 55,000 new ration cards prepared for distribution had been kept.....

Campaign ends for bypoll in MP

Bhopal, Mar 6 (UNI) Campaigning came to an end this evening for the byelections in Gwalior and Sidhi Lok Sabha constituencies and Udaypura assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh going to polls on March 8. Altogether 45 candidates figure in the three constituencies having total electorate of 26 lakh, while the main contest is between ruling BJP and Congress. Counting of votes will take place on March 11. Gwalior and Sidhi seats fell vacant as incumbents Ramsevak (Congress) and Chandra Pratap Singh.....
