Blasts: Investigation team seeks phone details of railway officials

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The police team, probing the February 19 Samjhauta Express blasts, has sought the telephonic details of all railway personnel, including officials, posted at the Old Delhi Ralway Station.

The details sought from the Railways were of all personnel working on Platform No 18, from where the Samjhauta Express leaves, covering a 30-day period, according to a senior Railway official.

This, the police said, was based on suspicion that some railway personnel were involved in the 'smuggling' of the suitcases which contained the bombs that exploded, claiming 68 lives.

The authorities are expediting work on the request due to the seriousness of the case, he added.

Meanwhile, the detailed footage of the CCTVs installed on Platform No 18, as sought by the investigation team, probing the blasts, was turning out to be an exercise in futility with reports of hazy and unclear pictures coming to the 'drawing table' of the police.

Another dispute is over the length of footage sought. While police sources insist they had asked for a 'seven-day capsule', railway officials confirmed only a request for 'two-hour footage' of Platform No 18 just prior to the Samjhauta Express leaving the Delhi station.
