4 killed in road mishaps in TN

Coimbatore, Feb 22 (UNI) Four persons were killed in three different road accidents in this district today.

Police said Vellore Prison Warders Training Institute Principal Chandran (51) and working as a jailor in Coimbatore Central Prison on deputation for the last four days was killed on the spot when he was hit by speedy autorickshaw in Tiruchirapalli Road in the city.

In an another incident, lorry driver Ahemad (44) and cleaner Shareef (32) hailing from Mallapuram in Kerala were killed on spot when the driver lost control and fell into a canal near Madukkarai about 15 km from here.

The lorry was on the way to Kerala from Salem when the mishap occurred.

A two-wheeler driver Sivakumar was killed on the spot when a lorry ran over to the vehicle at Ganapathy Area on the outskirts of the city today.

The victims' bodies were sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem, police added.

Load shedding inevitable, says Karnataka Chief Minister Kumaraswamy

Bangalore, Feb 22 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today observed that load shedding had become inevitable following non availability of required power in the state. Speaking to newsmen here after cabinet meeting, Mr Kumaraswamy said the government's priority was to ensure that students were not put to inconvenience as examinations were fast approaching.' When we have no other choice including ruling out purchase of power from outside, then it will become inevitable to introduce load shedding,' he added......
