21 industrial units default Central excise payment in Surat

Surat, Feb 22 (UNI) Office of the Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs has informed here that 21 industrial units, with revenue over Rs 50 lakh, have defaulted the payment of Central excise arrears.

In a notification issued by the Central Excise Commissionerate, Surat-1, the Additional Commissioner (Recovery) has informed that the government would take coercive action if the dues were not paid immediately.

The defaulters include many textile units having revenue income of more than Rs five crore.

Trucks collide; 3 killed

Nadiad, Feb 22 (UNI) Three persons were killed when two dumper trucks collided head on between Sevaliya and Dakor yesterday night. The two drivers and one passenger died as they were caught in the blazing fire that followed soon after the collision. The traffic was disrupted on the highway on Dakor Godhra road for a couple of hours. Fire brigade rushed to the spot. The deceased are Rajubhai Jasbhai Patel and Bhakabhai Vagehla(both drivers). 14-year old girl raped by neighbour

Surat, Feb 22 (UNI) A 14-year old girl was kidnapped and allegedly raped by a young neighbour at Kamrej last evening, Kapodra police said here today. Police said the youth, Ashok Sharma, who lived in a nearby house, approached the girl, a resident of Poonagam, and induced her to go to a farm near Kamrej area, where the culprit raped the girl and fled from the scene. The girl managed to reach her relatives house later in the evening and narrated.....

Convene a consensus meet on SSC

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 22 (UNI) The Aurangabad division bench of the Bombay High Court here today observed that the State Election Commission (SEC) should convene a meeting of the state education secretary, government representative and secretary of the state higher secondary certificate examination board in connection with the clashing of dates of SSC and HSC examination with the ensuing Zilla Parishad elections in the state. The division bench comprising Justice N H Patil and Justice R M Borde made the observation.....
