Vatal Nagaraj stages walk out on Cauvery

Bangalore, Feb 21 (UNI) Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj today staged a walk out in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly after failing to persuade the Government to pass a resolution on the Cauvery issue following the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal pronouncing its verdict recently.

Raising the issue in the House, Mr Nagaraj urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to ensure that the House discussed the verdict in detail and passed an unanimous resolution so that the Government's stand on the issue would be made known.

Water Resources Minister K S Eshwarappa assured that the Government would abide by the decision to be taken at an all-party meet to be held on February 24 here. The Chief Minister had convened a meeting of Members of Parliament in New Delhi tomorrow evening to discuss the issue, he added.

Sensing that the Government was not forthcoming to pass a resolution, Mr Nagaraj staged a walk out, shouting slogans that injustice had been meted out to Karnataka by the Tribunal.
