Two youths killed in road accident

Rajkot, Feb 21 (UNI) A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were killed when their vehicle was knocked down by a speeding Rickshaw on Liliya-Sanaliya road in Amreli district last night.

According to police, the deceased --Govind Kanparia (25) and Vipul Dudhat (20) were returning to their village Sanaliya from their factory on motorcycle when the mishap occurred.

The driver of the autorickshaw fled after the mishap, police said.

Surat, Feb 21 (UNI) Fortyeight mobile phones worth about 1.43 lakh and cash of Rs.18,000 were looted from a shop in Umra area in the heart of the city last night, police sources said. According to a complaint filed by Nareshchandra Jain of Bhttar Junction, his shop 'Pravina Point' in Sudhan Complex at Umra was looted by unidentified culprits. According to the complaint, the robbers broke open the shutter of the shop and to looted the valuables, sources said. No arrests.....

Truck hits camel cart; 2 killed

Anand, Feb 22 (UNI) Two persons died when a truck collided with a camel cart from behind at Dalichowkdi near Sojitra village in Anand district yesterday night. The camel cart carrying four men was going to Tarapur from Sojitra. Two men died on the spot and two injured. The deceased are Pujabhai Parmar and Rajubhai Parmar. UNI.....

BILT to invest $1bln in Malaysia's pulp

Singapore, Mar 17: Ballarpur Industries Ltd (BILT) will invest around one billion dollar on ancillary industries in support of its 261 million dollars acquisition of Malaysia's largest integrated pulp and paper mill, Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (SFI), said its chairman Gautam Thapar here today.According to Kuala Lumpur-based media reports, BILT would also be investing 100 million dollars in expanding capacity at the mill, which it will own about 77 per cent through subsidiary Ballarpur Paper Holdings.Mr.....

Nagpur, Feb. 22 (UNI) As many as 29 cases of use of unfair means and 3 of impersonation were detected in Nagpur Division during the English paper of the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination today. Three junior engineers suspended

Kolhapur, Feb 22 (UNI) The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) today suspended three junior engineers over negligence in discharging duty. The suspension order of Hemant Jadhav, Ramesh Kamble and Rajendra Velhal was passed by the KMC Commissioner Kunal Kumar, a KMC spokesperson said. In this connection, the civic body had yesterday suspended muster-roll in-charge Mahadev Gavli, who had accepted money from the workers by marking them present on the duty while they were absent.
