Two killed, three wounded in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 21 (UNI) One labourer was killed and three others, including a government official and a contractor were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire in south Kashmir while militants killed a person and attacked the house of another with a hand grenade in the Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.

A police spokesman said unknown gunmen opened fire at Damhal Hanjipora village in south Kashmir's Anantnag district this afternoon when labourers were constructing a culvert.

He said a labourer Mohammad Ramzan was killed on the spot while three others were wounded.

The wounded identified as ---contractor Bashir Ahmad Wani, Mohammad Yousuf workers Supervisor and Mohammad Abdullah were admitted to hospital in a critical condition.

Two of the injured were referred to Shar-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura.

A massive hunt has been launched to nab the gunmen.

CM orders judicial probe into boat accident

Kochi, Feb 21 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today ordered a judicial inquiry into the boat accident in Ovungal Kadavu in Periyar river that claimed 18 lives. Kerala orders judicial probe into boat tragedy

Kochi, Feb 21 (UNI) The last rites for ten school children and two teachers were performed amidst heart breaking scenes this afternoon even as the Kerala Government ordered a judicial inquiry into yesterday's tragic boat accident in Ovungal Kadavu in the Periyar river that claimed 18 lives.
