Three nabbed after encounter in MP

Shivpuri, MP, Feb 21 (UNI) Three persons, including a woman, were arrested after an encounter with the Pratap Gadaria dacoit gang in this district in the early hours today.

''The encounter took place at Patakhon in the Khodan forest.

Gadaria, his brother Mahendra and a few other gang members managed to flee. After the firing ceased, Pratap's sister Vimla, Purushottam Gadaria and Pappu Nai were found hiding at the spot. Two guns, some cartridges and items of daily use were seized from the trio,'' said Additional Superintendent of Police Mithlesh Shukla.

Vimla used to help in supplying the gang. Pratap and Mahendra -- who were once close aides of bandits Dayaram and Rambabu Gadaria -- carry awards of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively.

Govt accord administrative sanction for drinking water

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Governmnet today accorded administrative sanction for providing drinking water facilities to 25,589 schools at an estimated cost of Rs.76.76 crore. The Government also sanctioned for providing drinking water facilities to 811 Social Welfare Hostels in 23 districts in the State at an estimated cost of Rs 4.05 crore, an official release said here. The Government would spend Rs 3.99 crore to provide drinking water facilities to 86 Social Welfare Residential Institutions in 22.....

Bhopal, Feb 21 (UNI) A local court today recorded a witness' statement in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi stand accused. Chief Judicial Magistrate Raveendra Singh accepted defence Counsel P C Bedi's application urging conversion of witnesses into accused under Section 319 of the Criminal Procedure Code as the witnesses were part of the conspiracy. Businessman shot dead

Dehradun, Feb 21 (UNI) A businessman was shot dead in Hardwar district today. DIG R S Meena told UNI the murder has nothing to do with election. Personal rivalry could be the reason behind the murder, he said. According to the sources, Bhushan was drinking tea in front of his shop when two miscreants came from behind and shot at him.
