Three govt employees arrested for accepting bribe

Patna, Feb 21 (UNI) Sleuths of state vigilance bureau today arrested three government employees at different places for accepting illegal gratification.

Additional director general of state vigilance bureau Neelmani said that one Shakeel Ahmad of Bihar state Madarsa Board was arrested while he was receiving Rs 7000 from a teacher Jamaluddin to extend favour to him in salary arrear payment.

In another case in Vaishali, a rural bank employee Lakshmeshwar Prasad was arrested for accepting Rs 4000 from a farmer to prepare credit card. A field officer of the same bank Umesh Kumar Singh was nabbed when was receiving Rs 4000 from a villager for verification of his credit card.

All the arrested employees would produced before the special vigilance court in Patna tomorrow.

Indian Bank provides educational loan to 26000 students

Puducherry, Feb 26 (UNI) The Indian Bank had extended educational loan to the tune of Rs 260 crore to 26,000 students till December 2006 during the financial year 2006-07, CMD of the bank K C Chakraborty said here today. Andaman Police arrest two poachers recovers live deer

Port Blair, Feb 21 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Police today nabbed two persons who entered the restricted Jarawa Reserved Forest for poaching and recovered a live deer from them. Police said a patrolling party last night saw one dinghy coming from the reserved forest areas of Jarawa and intercepted it. Kidnapped children remain untraced

Imphal, Feb 21 (UNI) Two school children, kidnapped on December 14, remained untraced so far. The All India Christian Council, Manipur Branch and All Manipur Christian Organization expressed their concern over the abduction. ''Kidnapping of such tender children just for the sake of quenching one's greed is really unfortunate,'' the organisations said. SC directs ICICI to settle issue with a widow

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) On being severely pulled by the Supreme Court for employing ''musclemen'' as recovery agents, the ICICI bank today offered to settle the issue with a 75 year old widow whose truck was forcibly taken away by the agents of the bank from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh in July 2006. Official abducted during coop poll in MP

Bhopal, Feb 21 (UNI) An Agriculture Department official has been abducted by about half-a-dozen armed men while a cooperative bodies' election was underway in Noda in Bhind district's. A UNI report from Bhind district headquarters said that a case was registered late last night against Bharatiya Janata Party District General Secretary Guddu Sharma, Ramkaran Singh and five others who were absconding.
