State govt reviews progress in development work in tribal areas

Agartala, Feb 21 (UNI) Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, the Tripura government has reviewed the progress of developmental work in the tribal areas.

A meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Tribals was held yesterday. Detailed discussions were held in the meeting regarding the progress in education, health, drinking water, electricity and surface communication in the tribal-dominated rural areas.

The chief minister advised cultivation of bamboos, jatropha and medicinal plants to improve financial development of the tribals.

The Tribal Welfare Minister said where there is no scope for setting up of deep tubewells, alternative arrangement would be made to supply safe drinking water to the rural tribal dominated areas.

Apart from Principal Secretary S.K.Panda, other Commissioners of various departments also participated in the meeting.

Others present on the occasion were Tribal Welfare Minister Jitendra Chowdhury, Cooperative Minister Khagendra Jamatia, Executive Member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District council (TTAADC) Gajendra Tripura.

Share of organised retail expected to rise to 18-20% by 2011

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Driven by changing lifestyles, strong income growth and favourable demographic patterns, the organised retail in the country, which forms only three per cent of the 330 billion dollar industry, is expected to rise to 18-20 per cent by 2011. According to a survey, the industry is expected to attract 30 billion dollars investments in the coming few years, which will also supplement the change. The size of the industry was estimated at 330 billion dollars.....

Aurobindo gets nod for ARV prods from Botswana

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Aurobindo Pharma Ltd today said DRU (Drugs regulatory unit) of Botswana has registered nine of its anti retro viral (ARV) products at a single time. These products are used extensively in the treatment of HIV positive patients. The products include Lamivudine and Zidovudine tablet, Zidovudine oral solution 50 mg/5 ml, Nevirapine Oral Suspension 50 mg/ml, Lamivudine oral solution 10 mg/ml, Nevirapine 200 mg tablet, Stavudine 30 mg capsules, Stavudine 40 mg capsules, Lamivudine 150.....
