Sintex gets Rs 750 cr order from Gujarat govt

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Sintex Industries, plastic product and textile manufacturer, today entered into an agreement with the Gujarat Urban Development Company (GUDC) for the construction of 50,000 economically weaker sections quarters in Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot and Surat entailing an investment of Rs 750 crore.

The quarters will be constructed with monolithic construction technology, a housing solution designed by the company to address mass and low cost housing needs.

The company has also decided to launch its spring-summer '2008-09' Dobby and Jacquard collection across Europe on March 5 at all the international trade fairs in the continent.

The collection comprises over 3,000 designs in the men's formals, casuals, evening wear and ladies wear range.

It would be launched in India a fortnight after its Europe launch. These designs would be marketed to large international brands with which the company has existing tie-up, such as Marks&Spencer's, Armani, Burberry's, Darcy's and Abercrombie and Fitch UNI

No joint investigation into Samjhauta blasts : Pranab

Panel on ragging to hold public hearing in Chennai tomorrow

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) The Raghavan Committee on ragging set up on an order of the Supreme Court will visit Chennai tomorrow to hold public discussion on the issue. The committee was constituted by the Ministtry of Human Resource Development on November 27 last year with former CBI director Dr RK Raghavan as its head. It was mandated to look into the whole issue and suggest means and methods of prevention of ragging, a practice which sometimes took extreme forms.....
