SC to re-examine ban on Pappu Yadav's bail application

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) The Supreme Court has decided to re-examine its judgement directing that no court in the country will entertain the bail application of RJD MP from Bihar Rajesh Ranjan, alias Pappu Yadav, who is in Tihar Jail in connection with the murder of CPI(M) student leader Ajit Sarkar.

A Bench comprising Justice S B Sinha and Justice Markandey Katju issued a notice to the CBI yesterday day on a review petition filed by the controversial MP confined only to the issue wheteher this court can debar a person fron seeking bail in future.

Pappu Yadav in his review petition has contended that such a blanket ban imposed by this court directing that no court will entertain the bail application of the petitioner in this case amounted to violation of its fundamental right of applying for bail.

Yadav has not challenged the Supreme Court order dismissing his bail application in a murder case but challenged only the direction of the apex court that no court will entertain his bail application in future which amounted to imposing a ban on his filing bail applications. Even if he appeals against the adverse order if passed against him by the trial court even then he cannot ask for bail. This part of the order is totally unconstitutional, he added.

It may be noted here that the Supreme Court in its judgement has taken note of the conduct of Pappu Yadav during his stay in Tihar Jail where he had thrown parties for gangsters and was found campaining during elections while on paper he was in jail on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The court, however, directed the trial court to expedite the trial proceedings and conclude the trial at the earliest possible.
