Samjhauta Express blasts due to security failure: Bitta

Fatehgarh Sahib, Feb 21 (UNI) The recent blasts in Samjhauta Express talked volumes of security failure on part of the Home Ministry, Maninderjit Singh Bitta, president, All India Anti-Terrorist Front said here today.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Bitta, who had just returned from the accident site, said his interactions with the relatives of the victims revealed the weak security measures on part of the Indian authorities.

''There was no check on passengers who were boarding the train while in Pakistan several checks were initiated at several stations during the journey,'' Mr Bitta said.

Jammu, Feb 21 (UNI) To fight militancy in the state, recruitment of police personnel for four battalions in Jammu and Kashmir is in progress, official sources revealed here today. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, while addressing Pradesh Congress Committee executive of Jammu province last evening disclosed that the union government has accepted the proposal of creating 15 battalions of state police to tackle internal security, sources said. NABARD releases Rs 54.29 cr to Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 21 (UNI) The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned a sum of Rs 54.29 crore to the Kerala State Cooperative Bank (KSCB) at an interst rate of 2.5 per cent. A NABARD release said the amount was released on the condition that farmers would be provided crop loans up to Rs three lakh, at an interest rate not exceeding seven per cent. With this, NABARD has total outstanding loans against KSCB at Rs 498.27 crore......

Honey bees spell terror in Hubli

Hubli, Feb 26 (UNI) Honey bees virtually clamped curfew in a street here this afternoon, throwing normal life out of gear for over an hour. Honey bees, which suddenly took off from a building in Koppikar road, swarmed the street. The frightened people ran for cover, throwing their vehicles on the road. Almost all shops downed shutters, fearing attack. Normalcy returned to the street after the honey bees settled in their honeycombs. UNI.....
