Rupee opens softer at 44.20/21 per US dollar

Mumbai, Feb 21 (UNI) The Rupee today opened lower at 44.20/21 per US dollar as against the previous day's close of 44.18/19, traders said.

Later, the partially-convertible Rupee was at 44.22/23 per Dollar, slipping from Tuesday's close due to purchase of Dollar by nationalised banks, operators said. Trading activity was restricted during the mid-session.

The operators believed that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has actively stopped the Rupee from strengthening since the last few days.

Mumbai, Feb 21 (UNI) Sanwaria Agro Oils Limited (SAOL), a leading soyabean processor and refined soyabean oil maker, has announced plans to acquire two Solvent Extraction Plants in Madhya Pradesh at a cost of Rs 15 crore. ''The market for refined soyabean oil in India is estimated to be worth Rs 7500 crore. These acquisitions and further investment in them will enhance our present capacity by 1000 metric tonnes that will go a long way in helping SAOL meet market demand,''.....

Ahmedabad, Feb 21 (UNI) National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE) has settled the Guar seed (February ) contract at Rs.1767 per quintal and Soya oil (February) at Rs.437 per 10 kg as the futures trading for the February series that matured yesterday. While Guar seed was traded in the range of Rs 2084 in December first week and Rs.1825 this month. Soya oil was traded in the range of Rs.481.05 and Rs.436.15 over the same period. Call money ends lower on improved liquidity at 6.80-7.00 pc

Mumbai,Feb 21 (UNI) The Interbank call money today closed softer at 6.80/7.00 per cent compared with the previous close of 7.80-7.90 per cent, dealers said. The fall was due to the expectations that tight money conditions would ease as the government will increase spending. The yield on the 10-year bond ended at 7.92 per cent, down from 8 per cent at the previous close. Total volume was Rs 6200 crore (USD 1.4 billion), with the 7.37 per cent bond.....
