Public servants sent jail in bribery case

Patna, Feb 21 (UNI) Special vigilance judge of Patna S.P.N.Singh today remanded two public servants in judicial custody till March 2 in separate bribery cases.

Agriculture officer of Chandi block, Nalanda district, Dinesh Kumar Mandal and a clerk of district education superintendent's office, Patna, Dinesh kumar were today produced before the designated judge after their arrests yesterday.

According to the charges Mr Kumar was arrreted while recieving a bribe of Rs.10,000 in exchange of providing job to a person on compassionate grounds and Mr Mandal was apprehended for accepting a bribe of Rs.1000 from a farmer with the promise to grant loan for procuring agricultural implements.

Andaman Police arrest two poachers recovers live deer

Port Blair, Feb 21 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Police today nabbed two persons who entered the restricted Jarawa Reserved Forest for poaching and recovered a live deer from them. Police said a patrolling party last night saw one dinghy coming from the reserved forest areas of Jarawa and intercepted it. Kidnapped children remain untraced

Imphal, Feb 21 (UNI) Two school children, kidnapped on December 14, remained untraced so far. The All India Christian Council, Manipur Branch and All Manipur Christian Organization expressed their concern over the abduction. ''Kidnapping of such tender children just for the sake of quenching one's greed is really unfortunate,'' the organisations said. The AICC (M) and AMCO appealed to the abductors to release the two innocent captives -- Moheni Martin and Hriinii Hubert, safe and sound. UNI.....

SC directs ICICI to settle issue with a widow

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) On being severely pulled by the Supreme Court for employing ''musclemen'' as recovery agents, the ICICI bank today offered to settle the issue with a 75 year old widow whose truck was forcibly taken away by the agents of the bank from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh in July 2006. A bench comprising Justices A R Laxmanan and Altamas Kabir today directed both the parties to inform the court on Monday next, whether any settlement was possible.....
