Poll schedule for U P

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Following is the Schedule fixed by the Election Commission for the seven phase election for Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

Phase I : Polling date April 7 2007 Phase II : " April 13 2007 Phase III : " April 18 2007 Phase IV : " April 23 2007 Phase V : " April 28 2007 Phase VI : " May 3 2007 Phase VII : " May 8 2007 While the date for notification falls under different dates commencing from March 13, the date of counting is common for all the seven phases on May 11 (Friday) and election process has to be completed before May 13 (Sunday).

Guwahati, Mar 7 (UNI) The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is all set to launch the final commissioning trial of Anti-Collision Device(ACD) on March 9 as part of a pilot project of the Indian Railways. A successful final commissioning run will lead to introduction of the device in the entire system of the NFR on a later date. Tiwari casts his vote

Dehradun, Feb 21 (UNI) Chief Mininster N D Tiwari today cast his vote at one of the polling booths set up in the Forest Research Institute Kendriya Vidhyalaya. Tiwari, who had declined to contest the Assembly election, reached the polling booth at around 1230 hours. Declining to vote in the specially set up booth for him, he preferred to stand in an ordinary booth and waited for his turn for 5 minutes. UNI.....

Public holiday in Valtoha on Feb 24

Chandigarh, Feb 21 (UNI) The Punjab Government has declared a public holiday on February 24 in Valtoha Assembly constituency where polling will be held on that day. All Government offices and those of corporations, boards and all educational institutions in the constituency will remain closed due to polling. It will also be a holiday within the meaning of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instument Act, 1881. The polling in Valtoha Assembly constituency had been deferred to February 24 following.....

Water availability to last upto May 1st week: Andaman Administration

Port Blair, Mar 7 (UNI) Sufficient drinking water will be available here upto May 1st week with the current water supply system, the District Administration of Andaman claimed today. ''There will be no further curtailment of water and there is no reason to panic,'' said Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman K S Singh today. The Deputy Commissioner said that the water supply from the Dhanikari dam, the main water source, has been curtailed from 58 lakh gallon on normal.....
