Police team leaves for Kerala in search of missing girls

Kancheepuram, Feb 21 (UNI) A police team has left for Kerala to locate two girls who had gone missing.

Police here today said a search was launched after the two teenagers employed in a cable TV company did not return home from work.

Following information the duo were in Kerala, a team led by Woman SI Tripurasundari left for the state.

Old man murdered by unidentified persons

Vijayawada, Feb 21 (UNI) A 55-year-old man was brutally murdered by some unidentified persons at Gollapudi, near here today. According to police the man, Ramagiri Krishna, employed as a watchman in a Cement Godown had come to the city 15 years back from Ramagundam. He was staying with his family members. The body was sent to the Government General Hospital for post mortem. The reason for the murder was being investigated. The involvement of his family members was not ruled out,.....

Arrest sought for involvement in suicide

Vijayawada, Feb 21 (UNI) Demanding the arrest of one person allegedly involved in the suicide of his former accomplice, the family members and villagers of the victim resorted to a dharna, carrying the mortal remains, in front of Penumuluru Police Station in Krishna district. Chennai, Feb 21 (UNI) A Metropolitan Magistrate Court today directed Actor-politician and Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) Founder-Leader Vijayakanth to appear before it on March 7 in connection with a defamation case filed by the ruling DMK. Egmore Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bhoodanathan gave the direction while adjourning the case to March seven. When the case came up for hearing, the actor's counsel filed a petition before the court informing the Madras High Court had dispensed with the DMDK leader's personal appearance.....

Peition against SEC unsustainable, says counter

Chennai, Feb 21 (UNI) The petition seeking to restrain D Chandrasekaran from functioning as State Election Commissioner was not maintainable and grant of the prayer was beyond the jurisdiction of this court and so was liable to be dismissed, the SEC stated in a counter affidavit filed before Madras High Court. Mr S Thangamani, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Election Commission filed the counter on behalf of the SEC represented by D Chandrasekaran, State Election Commissioner, to the petition filed by AIADMK Fisheries.....
