Pak nationals fail to identify bodies of kin

Panipat, Feb 21 (UNI) Frantic efforts were on to identify the victims of the Samjhauta Express blasts even as nine Pakistanis, who arrived here this morning failed to recognise their kin among the bodies lying at the Civil hospital here today.

Only 18 of the bodies have been identified so far. Thirteen of these bodies are of Pakistanis while others are of Indians, officials here said.

A group of nine people from Pakistan arrived here this morning but they failed to identify their relatives who were missing since the Samjhuata blast on Sunday night.

They later left for Delhi to look out for their kin amomg the injured passengers who were admitted to the Safdarjang hospital there.

Meanwhile, the administration has started taking DNA samples of those relatives who could not find their kin among the dead as well as the injured.

DNA samples of the unidentified bodies had been taken yesterday for their identification by matching them with the samples of their relatives.

M P Assembly sittings rescheduled

Bhopal, Feb 21 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly will not have its sitting for four days from February 27. This was disclosed by Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today while conveying the house about the recommendations of the business advisory committee. The committee also discussed about changing the sitting schedule from 0900 hours to 1400 on Fridays, he said. 4 officials suspended for supplying defective pumps

Bhopal, Feb 21 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today told state Legislative Assembly that four officials had already been suspended following complaints about supply of defective and sub-standard irrigation pumps to tribals in Betul and Dhar districts under the integrated tribal development project. Replying to a call attention notice moved by Mr Sajjan Singh Verma (Cong), Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah said senior officers were inquiring into the complaints. Assistance worth Rs 20,000 was being given to the beneficiaries on.....

Officer decides 'shahi snan' dates of Rajim Kumbh: Cong

Raipur, Feb 21 (UNI) Who decides the date of 'Shahi Snan' at the much-publicised 'Kumbh Mela' at Rajim in Chhattisgarh? It's not by sadhus, saints or other religious leaders but by an officer on special duty (OSD), the opposition Congress claims. The matter echoed in the Vidhan Sabha today when Mr Ravindra Choubey (Congress) questioned the reasoning behind propagating the religious congregation at Rajim as 'fifth Kumbh' saying that it was the traditional 'Punni mela' held at the famous Rajiv Lochan.....
