Oppn leader urges for holding Chairman's election

Bangalore, Feb 21 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council H K Patil today urged the State Government to hold election to the Council Chairman's post immediately in view of the ''message'' sent by Governor T N Chaturvedi to the Legislature Secretary directing to conduct the election.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said the message was clear and reflected the lapses on the part of the Government in delaying the election. The Government had no other alternative, but to show respect to the message.

He said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy should apologise to the people for not holding the election as per legal and constitutional provisions. ''I caution the Government that any delay in holding the election would amount to showing disrespect to the Constitution.'' UNI

DuPont to open knowledge centre in Hyderabad

Bangalore, Feb 21 (UNI) DuPont, a science-based products and service company of the US, will open its knowledge centre in Hyderabad with an investment of over 50 million Dollars in the first phase, DuPont India Executive Director Shankar Krishnan said today. Pondy proposes vehicle pollution test centre

Puducherry, Feb 22 (UNI) The Puducherry administration proposes to set up a centre to check the pollution levels of vehicles here, Minister for Education M O H F Shajahan said today. Inaugurating the 'Green Earth-Enviornment Friendly Club' at the Bharathidasan Government Women's College here, he said the vehicles emanating smoke above the prescribed norms, would be tested at the centre to minimise the level to prevent environmental pollution. Bangalore, Feb 22 (UNI) The Ambani brothers are in the race along with top notch global developers for the Rs 50,000 crore knowledge city project of Karnataka, proposed to come up at Bididi on the outskirts of the city.
