One Jharkhand labourer dead, five injured in dynamite blast

Shimla, Feb 21 (UNI) One migrant labourer was killed and four others injured in a dynamite blast at a road construction site in Bajirbawri near Nirmand in Kullu District today.

Police sources said that 21-year-old labourer Arun, hailing from Jharkhand was killed in the blast at the road site.

The four injured had been admitted in Khanri Civil Hospital at Rampur, they said.

The incident occurred when the labourers, employed by a private contractor on a construction work, were using dynamite to remove the hard rock and it suddenly exploded before they could move to a safe distance, police said.

A Police had begun investigations.

One Killed three injured in Kashmir Firing

Srinagar, Feb 21 (UNI) One labourer was killed and three others, including a government official and a contractor was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag this afternoon, a police spokesman said. He said unknown gunmen opened fire at Damhal Hanjipora when labourers were constructing a culvert. He said a labourer, Mohammad Ramzan was killed on the spot while three others were wounded. The wounded were identified as ---contractor Bashir Ahmad Wani, Supervisor Mohammad Yousuf.....

17 Pakistanis arrive to identify bodies of relatives

Amritsar, Feb 21 (UNI) Another group of 17 people, including two women, from Pakistan arrived today to identify the bodies of their relatives killed in the Samjhauta Express blasts at Panipat on Sunday night. They crossed into India at Wagah border, about 35 km from here, in batches and left for Panipat where the bodies of the victims are lying for identification at the Civil hospital. Grenade attack on the house of a school owner in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Feb 21 (UNI) A private school owner and his family members escaped unhurt in a hand grenade attack on their house in north Kashmir this afternoon, official sources said. They said unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade towards the house of one Inayat Ullah, a private school owner, at Sopore at 1600 hours this afternoon. However, it missed the intended target and exploded causing damage to the window panes. Inayat and his family members escaped unhurt in the attack. UNI.....
