Official abducted during coop poll in MP

Bhopal, Feb 21 (UNI) An Agriculture Department official has been abducted by about half-a-dozen armed men while a cooperative bodies' election was underway in Noda in Bhind district's.

A UNI report from Bhind district headquarters said that a case was registered late last night against Bharatiya Janata Party District General Secretary Guddu Sharma, Ramkaran Singh and five others who were absconding. Mr Sukhram was on poll duty when he was abducted.

Raising the matter in the Assembly during zero hour today, Congress MLA and former minister Govind Singh alleged that actually two officials were abducted and their lives were in danger.

Speaker Ishwardas Rohani told the government to ensure action in the matter.

30 cartons of illicit liquor seized

Kota, Feb 21 (UNI) Excise Preventive Force personnel raided a house in Bundi district and seized huge quantities of illicit liquor. Excise department sources said the raids were conducted yesterday after receiving information about the sale of illicit liquor from a house located in a field in Mandawari village. At least 30 cartons filled with country-made liquor pouches were seized from the premises. But the accused managed to flee before the excise team arrived. Sources said one of the accused.....

Three nabbed after encounter in MP

Shivpuri, MP, Feb 21 (UNI) Three persons, including a woman, were arrested after an encounter with the Pratap Gadaria dacoit gang in this district in the early hours today. ''The encounter took place at Patakhon in the Khodan forest. Gadaria, his brother Mahendra and a few other gang members managed to flee. After the firing ceased, Pratap's sister Vimla, Purushottam Gadaria and Pappu Nai were found hiding at the spot. Two guns, some cartridges and items of daily use were seized.....

Govt accord administrative sanction for drinking water

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Governmnet today accorded administrative sanction for providing drinking water facilities to 25,589 schools at an estimated cost of Rs.76.76 crore. The Government also sanctioned for providing drinking water facilities to 811 Social Welfare Hostels in 23 districts in the State at an estimated cost of Rs 4.05 crore, an official release said here. The Government would spend Rs 3.99 crore to provide drinking water facilities to 86 Social Welfare Residential Institutions in 22.....

Bhopal, Feb 21 (UNI) A local court today recorded a witness' statement in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi stand accused. Chief Judicial Magistrate Raveendra Singh accepted defence Counsel P C Bedi's application urging conversion of witnesses into accused under Section 319 of the Criminal Procedure Code as the witnesses were part of the conspiracy.
