Nucleus Software to manage Islamic Bank's operations

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Nucleus Software, provider of nextgen software products for banking and financial sector, has been selected by Dubai Islamic Bank to manage its retail operations.

Nucleus' flagship product FinnOneTM CAS will be implemented across 40 branches of the world's first fully-fledged Islamic bank by the end of this year.

''The latest initiative will now prove its mettle in the UAE.

Islamic banking is one of the world's fastest-growing economic sectors, comprising close on 300 institutions responsible for assets estimated at more than 400 billion dollars,'' it said in a statement.

This software will allow for anytime, anywhere access, ensuring ease in operation and instant information availability to the financial institution.

Nucleus has so far consolidated its position as a technology leader in the Japanese, West Asian, African and South East Asian markets.

JD(U) burns PM effigy, courts arrest on price rise

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Scores of Janata Dal (United) followers, led by Party Chief Sharad Yadav today burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh protesting the spiralling of prices of essential commodities and the entry of MNCs in the retail sector. Protestors at the 'dharna', organised by the Delhi Pradesh JD(U), later courted arrest at the Jantar Mantar here. Mr Yadav, addressing the gathering said the 'aam aadmi' was being fleeced with skyrocketing prices of essential commodities while favourable.....

MPVL dispatches indelible ink for UP elections

Mysore, Feb 24 (UNI) The state owned Mysore Paints and Varnish ltd. (MPVL) has dispatched indelible ink bottles worth Rs 1.5 crore to Lucknow for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh elections to be held in seven phases from April seven. MPVL Chairman Ravishankar told UNI that about 361 boxes of delible ink, each containing 700 bottles of ink were dispatched by road to Bangalore last evening and they would be airlifted to Lucknow. He said about 1,10,000 booths would be established.....

Agumbe records the lowest minimum temperature of 6.4 deg. celsius

Bangalore, Feb 24 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours today. Dry weather prevailed over the State. Minimum temperatures changed little over the State. They were below normal at most places being appreciably so at a few places over North Interior Karnataka; appreciably below normal at many places over South Interior Karnataka and below normal at many places over Coastal Karnataka. Agumbe recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 6.4 degree celsius.....
