North Bengal will host Tea Tourism

Siliguri, Feb 21 (UNI) The Centre has funded Rs 3.5 crore for hosting Tea Tourism Festival for promotion of touring in the tea estates of North Bengal.

Deputy Director of West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Gopal Lama told UNI that the Union Tourism Ministry has allocated Rs 3.5 crore this week for hosting the festival.

However, dates and venue will be announced later, he added.

He said the fund came after submission of a proposal for development of tea tourism, in North Bengal and particularly ailing tea estates.

Mr Lama said the 'tea tourism' can attract foreign as well as domestic tourists visiting this region.

According to a statistic over 1.5 crore tourists had visited the Northern region of Bengal in the last five years. Of them 5 lakh were foreign travellers.

30 projects with over Rs 28,000 cr investment cleared

Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) Karnataka Major Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu today said the eighth State High-level Clearance Committee approved 30 new industrial projects with an investment of Rs 28,202.05 crore.
