Mobile phones and cash looted from shop

Surat, Feb 21 (UNI) Fortyeight mobile phones worth about 1.43 lakh and cash of Rs.18,000 were looted from a shop in Umra area in the heart of the city last night, police sources said.

According to a complaint filed by Nareshchandra Jain of Bhttar Junction, his shop 'Pravina Point' in Sudhan Complex at Umra was looted by unidentified culprits.

According to the complaint, the robbers broke open the shutter of the shop and to looted the valuables, sources said.

No arrests have been made so far by Umra police, sources added.

29 cases of unfair means, 3 of impersonation in Nagpur Division

Nagpur, Feb. 22 (UNI) As many as 29 cases of use of unfair means and 3 of impersonation were detected in Nagpur Division during the English paper of the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination today. Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Divisional Chairman J. D. Katole told UNI that the 29 cases of use of unfair means included 15 in Chandrapur district, 5 in Dawlameti, 4 in Khaparkheda, 2 each in Wadi and Hingna, and 1 in.....

Three junior engineers suspended

Kolhapur, Feb 22 (UNI) The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) today suspended three junior engineers over negligence in discharging duty. The suspension order of Hemant Jadhav, Ramesh Kamble and Rajendra Velhal was passed by the KMC Commissioner Kunal Kumar, a KMC spokesperson said. In this connection, the civic body had yesterday suspended muster-roll in-charge Mahadev Gavli, who had accepted money from the workers by marking them present on the duty while they were absent. Gavli used to mark them present by taking.....

Sarthana zoo to get lions, bears from Jharkand park

Surat, Feb 23 (UNI) Sarthana Nature Park and Zoo, owned by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), will get a pair of lions and bears from Birsa Munda Biological Garden in Ranchi, Jharkahand, SMC sources said here today. Sources said a pair of lions, named Bahadur and Sita, and a pair of bears, named Shital and Kunti, would come to Sarthana Park from Ranchi in a few days. The move comes after a recent decision to add more animals to Sarthana Zoo that.....
