MK to launch second phase of Unemployment aid scheme Feb 24

Chennai, Feb 20 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will launch the second phase of the programme providing unemployment allowance to educated youth on February 24 at Coimbatore.

An official press release here tonight said the first phase of the scheme was launched by the Chief Minister on November 11 last year benefitting 1.88 lakh youth.

In the second phase, financial assistance upto a maximum of Rs 900 being the assistance for three months, will be provided to 2.5 lakh youth, it said.

Gulbarga, Feb 22 (UNI) The Hyderabad-Karnataka Horatta Samithi will take out a procession on February 27 in the city, demanding that the State Government mount pressure on the Centre to amend Article 371 of the Constitution to accord special status to the backward region. Two killed, 6 injured in road accident

Cuddalore, Feb 20 (UNI) Two persons were killed and six injured, one of them seriously when the Tata Sumo in which they were travelling rammed in to paddy laden lorry at Narikkuravar colony near Vadalur today. According to police, eight persons boarded the vehicle carrying newspapers which was returning here at Melankuzhi near Kattumannarkoil for taking part in a funeral. When the vehicle neared Narikkuravar colony, it dashed against the lorry killing two persons-- Kamalakannan (40) and Velmurugan (31)-- on.....
