Impetus to promote research work at IIM-I

Indore, Feb 21 (UNI) Impetus, pioneers in outsourced product development services in India offering high value product design and development services to independent software vendors, today announced joining hands with the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) to endow a chair of information technology and systems.

IIM-I Director Dr S P Parashar and Impetus CEO Praveen Kankariya signed an agreement at the Impetus facility in Indore today announcing the institution of the ''Impetus Chair of Information Technology and Systems''.

The Chair will provide a collaborative framework for performing applied research, industry practices analysis, sharing knowledge and conducting specific projects of mutual benefit. This association will provide avenues for adequate grooming of the next tier of mid-level leadership and management bandwidth for Impetus, and at the same time, allow IIM-I students to gain valuable industry perspective.

Addressing the mediapersons on the occassion, Dr Parashar said ''We hope that this relationship will help in facilitating better academia-industry alliance through collaborative research and analysis, conferences, workshops, courses and other joint meetings of mutual interest, This association is expected to bring synergies at multiple levels, benefiting the students at IIM and their alumni at one end and having a direct impact on the knowledge, resources and organizational exposure of the Impetus employees at the other end.

Mr Kankariya said ''The coming together of IIM-Indore and Impetus will bring immense value to all the stakeholders and even to the community at large. Impetus employees will also be benefitted through targeted management programmes. Additionally, the engineering talent at Impetus, combined with the management knowledge of the IIM faculty and students, will present a unique and exciting synergy of interesting thoughts and ideas. Rain, snow likely in J

Pune, Feb 21 (UNI) Rain or snow are likely to occur at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Haryana, Punjab, north Rajasthan Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Lakshadweep. Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in north Orissa, Jharkhand, south Chattisgarh and north Telangana, and were below normal.....

Fire in Junagadh district collector's office, guts files, property

Junagadh, Feb 21 (UNI) A major fire broke out in the office of the District Collector early today, damaging property and reducing several important files to ashes. According to the preliminary reports, the cause of fire is said to be because of a short circuit. However, no casualties were reported, official sources said. The four-storeyed office also housed the offices of the Deputy Collector, Mid-day meal department, employment section, district and taluka panchayats etc. Twelve fire tenders were pressed into service.....

All India Bank strike called off

Kolkata, Feb 21 (UNI) The proposed nationwide strike in all public sector and other banks on February 23, was called off today following an ''understanding'' between bankers and the bank unions.
