Hyundai Santro crosses 1 mln mark

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Country's second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), today said it has sold a million Santros in the domestic and export market since the vehicle's introduction in the market in late 1998.

Of the one million Santro cars sold, over seven lakh cars have been sold in the domestic market and three lakh units exported.

''This new record of selling one million Santro exemplifies the unmatched equity of the Santro brand across the world. It has also a proven track record of power efficiency, reliability and long life,'' HMIL Managing Director H S Lheem said.

The Santro was one of the first small car to offer an automatic transmission.

The initial model of the Santro was given a facelift in July, 2001 to make it more contemporary in terms of styling and another in May, 2003 when the new Xing was launched with a makeover which included new panels, bonnets, headlamps and tail lamps.
