Govt notifies 21-member group to help draft rules on forest bill

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) The government today notified a 21-member technical support group to draft rules for implementation of the forest bill.

The team will be headed by retired IAS officer S R Shankaran, according to an official release.

The technical support group was set up in the wake of the enactment of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 in January for carrying out the provisions of the Act.

As per the guidelines, the Technical Support Group shall prepare the draft rules for carrying out the provisions of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 within a period of three months and submit the same to the government.

The Technical Support Group shall meet and prepare its action plan for drafting the proposed rules, the relese added.

Involve private sector in municipal waste disposal: Expert

Bangalore, Feb 21 (UNI) Privatisation and involvement of self help groups and NGOs could help effectively tackle the problem of disposal of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), causing serious health and environmental problems due to rapid growth in urban areas, Environmental Management and Policy Research Institute (EMPRI) Director General V Basappa said today.
