CID searches Margadarsi Financiers offices

Hyderabad, Feb 21 (UNI) The CID today searched the offices of the Margadarsi Financiers here today.

The officials had obtained search warrant from the Magistrate's Court here to investigate into the activities of the firm, police sources said.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) strongly condemned the alleged high-handed behaviour of Margadarsi staff with journalists who visited the company's headquarters here to cover the CID search.

In a statement here, APUWJ General Secretary K Amarnath alleged the staff prevented journalists from entering the premises while allowing those from the media group owned by Margadarsi proprietor.

Mr Amarnath alleged the actions of the Margadarsi staff constituted a direct attack on the freedom of the press.

''We urge the management of the media group and Margadarsi to take stringent action against the staff concerned. We also demand the police book a case against them,'' he added.

New Indian-Bhutan Friendship Treaty enters into force

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The updated India-Bhutan Friendship Treaty, allowing the tiny Himalayan Kingdom to import independently arms and ammunition and defence equipment for its security, has come into force following exchange of Instruments of Ratification between the two countries.
