Businessman shot dead

Dehradun, Feb 21 (UNI) A businessman was shot dead in Hardwar district today.

DIG R S Meena told UNI the murder has nothing to do with election. Personal rivalry could be the reason behind the murder, he said.

According to the sources, Bhushan was drinking tea in front of his shop when two miscreants came from behind and shot at him. He ran for safety but stumbled. The miscreants fired for the second time killing him and fled.

Police have launched a manhunt.

Old man murdered by unidentified persons

Vijayawada, Feb 21 (UNI) A 55-year-old man was brutally murdered by some unidentified persons at Gollapudi, near here today. According to police the man, Ramagiri Krishna, employed as a watchman in a Cement Godown had come to the city 15 years back from Ramagundam. He was staying with his family members. The body was sent to the Government General Hospital for post mortem. The reason for the murder was being investigated. The involvement of his family members was not ruled out,.....

Arrest sought for involvement in suicide

Vijayawada, Feb 21 (UNI) Demanding the arrest of one person allegedly involved in the suicide of his former accomplice, the family members and villagers of the victim resorted to a dharna, carrying the mortal remains, in front of Penumuluru Police Station in Krishna district. According to police Venkateswara Rao and Nagul Meera were friends and used to commit thefts. They parted ways after a dispute and Rao used to threaten he would bring Meera to book. Court asks Vijayakanth to appear before it on Mar 7

Chennai, Feb 21 (UNI) A Metropolitan Magistrate Court today directed Actor-politician and Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) Founder-Leader Vijayakanth to appear before it on March 7 in connection with a defamation case filed by the ruling DMK. Egmore Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bhoodanathan gave the direction while adjourning the case to March seven. When the case came up for hearing, the actor's counsel filed a petition before the court informing the Madras High Court had dispensed with the DMDK leader's personal appearance.....
