Belgium expresses interest in cultural exchange with Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Belgium today expressed keen interest to have a cultural exchange programme with New Delhi.

This was stated by Belgium's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Media and Tourism, Geert Bourgeois during his meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at her residence.

Mr Bourgeois, who called on Ms Dikshit along with a seven-member delegation, said the Belgium Government was keen to have a cultural exchange programme with New Delhi for which it would be sending a formal request.

The visiting Minister said that he was aware about the various facts of the 5000-year-old history of Delhi.

During the meeting, the visiting Minister was apprised about the federal structure of India and the status of city-state Delhi.

Mr Bourgeois was keen to know about the preparedness for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Giving a brief description of various developmental activities of Delhi, Ms Dikshit informed the Belgium Minister that the ensuing Commonwealth Games would go a long way in changing the face of the Capital.

She also made a reference to the JNNURM and the city development plan prepared by the Delhi Government.

Tata Motors vehicle sales at 53,707, up by 19 per cent

Kolkata, Mar 01 (UNI) Tata Motors, a leading automobile company in India, has reported a total sales of 53,707 vehicles (including exports) in February 2007, a growth of 19 per cent over 45,113 in the corresponding period last year. A company release today said cumulative sales for the company at 5,16,599 and was also growing by 30 per cent. The sales of commercial vehicles during last month in the domestic market was 27,859, an increase of 22 per cent over.....

Anil Sardana appointed as executive director in Tata Power

Kolkata, Mar 01 (UNI) The Tata Power Company Limited today announced the appointment of Anil K Sardana as Executive Director with effect from March one. Prior to this assignment, Mr Sardana was the Managing Director of North Delhi Power Limited(NDPL), an associate company of Tata Power for power distribution in New Delhi.
