Andaman Police arrest two poachers recovers live deer

Port Blair, Feb 21 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Police today nabbed two persons who entered the restricted Jarawa Reserved Forest for poaching and recovered a live deer from them.

Police said a patrolling party last night saw one dinghy coming from the reserved forest areas of Jarawa and intercepted it. After search the police party found a live female deer, which was supposed to be butchered in South Andaman meat market.

Under provision of SC and ST (POA) Act and Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, killing or even taking away wild deer from forest for domestication is a crime, police said.

Both the poachers, belonging to South Andaman village, have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody till March 5.

Police said the deer has been handed over to the Forest Department.

SC directs ICICI to settle issue with a widow

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) On being severely pulled by the Supreme Court for employing ''musclemen'' as recovery agents, the ICICI bank today offered to settle the issue with a 75 year old widow whose truck was forcibly taken away by the agents of the bank from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh in July 2006. A bench comprising Justices A R Laxmanan and Altamas Kabir today directed both the parties to inform the court on Monday next, whether any settlement was possible.....

Official abducted during coop poll in MP

Bhopal, Feb 21 (UNI) An Agriculture Department official has been abducted by about half-a-dozen armed men while a cooperative bodies' election was underway in Noda in Bhind district's. Visakhapatnam, Feb 26 (UNI) Kaushik Logistics Private Limited (KLPL) today introduced a 45-seater air-conditioned super luxury Volvo bus service between Visakhapatnam and Kolkata via Bhubaneswar. 30 cartons of illicit liquor seized

Kota, Feb 21 (UNI) Excise Preventive Force personnel raided a house in Bundi district and seized huge quantities of illicit liquor. Excise department sources said the raids were conducted yesterday after receiving information about the sale of illicit liquor from a house located in a field in Mandawari village.
