Workshop on Biological,Chemical Disaster Management on Feb 22-23

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) A two-day national workshop on Biological and chemical disaster management is being organised here from February 22 to increase awareness about it.

The workshop being organised by the National Disaster Management Authority will address various aspects of biological and chemical disasters including management, response, community awareness, training and capacity development of these disasters.

After deliberations in this national workshop, a core group will be formed for preparation of national and state plans for the purpose of prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Senior delegates from the central and state governments, NGOs and scientific institutions concerned with the biological and chemical disaster management will be participating in the workshop.

Indo-Pak peace forum condemns Samjhauta attack

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Pakistan-India People's Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD) today denounced yesterday's terrorist attack on the Samjhauta Express. In a release, Forum Secretary Tapan Bose said no purpose would be served by these kinds of terror acts. The forum stressed the need to see through the nefarious designs of the blasts which left behind a bloody trail of the dead and the injured, since the train was a ''harbinger of peace''. Editors Guild condemns Andhra govt.'s 'witch-hunt' against Eenadu

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The Editors Guild of India has expressed 'shock'' over reported moves by the Andhra Pradesh authorities to ''raid and search'' the offices of Eanadu Group of its newspapers and its editor Raoji Rao, saying it was a blatant attempt to muzzle the media. ''The Guild cautions the Andhra Pradesh government not to use the investigations against the financial company owned by Mr Ramoji Rao and his family to settle scores with an independent newspaper by planning.....

Delhi-Lahore bus leaves for Pak amid tight security

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Unfazed by the horrendous Samjhauta Express blasts which claimed more than 65 lives, a full capacity 'Sada-e-Sarhad' Delhi-Lahore bus with 46 passengers on board departed for its destination amid tight security this morning. No cancellation was made by any of the 46 passengers who had booked their tickets well in advance, said a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) official. ''Despite the blasts yesterday, no attempt was even made by any of the passengers to get their bookings.....
