Two govt employees arrested for accepting bribe

Patna, Feb 20 (UNI) Sleuths of state vigilance bureau today arrested a clerk and a block agriculture officer for accepting bribe in Patna and Nalanda respectively.

Additional director general of state vigilance bureau Neelmani said the clerk, Deenesh Kumar, of district education superintendent office of Patna was arrested when he was taking Rs 10,000 from one Ajay Kumar against appointment on compassionate ground.

In another case, block agriculture officer Deenesh Prasad Mandal was caught while accepting Rs 1000 from a farmer in Nalanda to grant loan for purchase of equipment for irrigation.

Both the arrested men would be produced before special vigilance judge in Patna tomorrow.

Pastor sacked in Mizoram

Aizawl, Feb 20 (UNI) Kerala-based New Life Ministry has sacked the director of its Manipur branch Pastor C V John for his alleged involvemnt with a gospel singer. Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) A local court today recorded two witnesses' statements and accepted applications by the defence and the prosecution in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi stand accused. Villagers block traffic on Kumbakkonam-Chennai highway

Cuddalore, Feb 20 (UNI) Villagers of Pannuratti in this district today blocked traffic on Kumbakkonam-Chennai highway for four hours protesting against the police allegedly arresting an innocent person in connection with a woman's murder here. They said Sekhar (32) had been arrested and lodged in Kannadakavadi police station. This morning, he was found missing.
