Tributes paid to Saddam in MP Assembly

Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) today paid tributes to deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussain in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

While paying tributes to former Chief Minister S C Shukla and others in the Assembly, CPI-M member Ramlakhan Sharma recalled the ''hanging of Saddam Hussain at the behest of the United States in its bid to have control over the oil deposits in Iraq'' and paid glowing tributes to the former President.

Mr Sharma and Dr Sunilam (Samajwadi Party) also paid tributes to the passengers of the Samjhouta Express, who perished in the explosions yesterday. Majority of the blast victims were Pakistani citizens returning to their country.

The Assembly adjourned its sitting till tomorrow as a mark of respect to those departed.

JITM students develop solar lantern

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20 (UNI) A low cost solar powered battery charged LED Lanterns have been developed by the students of Jagannath Institute of Technology and Management (JITM), Orissa, in collaboration with the Engineers Without Borders(EWB) member students from University of Illinois. This has been specially developed for the benefit of the off-grid villages. JITM Director (Research and Development) Dhanandra Kumar Mishra told reporters here yesterday that the students have fabricated 80 prototype lamps for trial in the villages close.....

Security tightened at Gorakhpur Railway Station

Gorakhpur, Feb 20 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at the Gorakhpur Railway Station, following the bomb blasts in the Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has to participate in various railway programmes today in Chitauni, Bihar which comes under the same railway division. According to sources, a large number of security personnel have been pressed into round the clock service. Sniffer dog squads will now check the trains before it departs from the station. At least 68 pasengers have.....

Wind River acquires RTLinux IP

Bangalore, Feb 21 (UNI) City based Wind River Systems, a Device Software Optimisation (DSO) player, today announced acquisition of an IP for RTLinux, a real-time Linux technology developed by Finite State Machine Labs, Inc.
