Training for police in Kancheepuram District

Kancheepuram, Feb 20 (UNI) Kancheepuram DIG Shakeel Akhtar said rigorous training had been given to police in physical fitness as well as in maintaining public relations in the district.

In all villages police-friendly committees would be established.

More people would be enrolled in the committee, who would assist the police, including traffic regulations.

Mr Shakeel said police would ensure that in accident insurance, the department would ensure that a copy of documents, FIR, insurance copy and post-mortem report would reach the affected poeple, apart from sending a copy of relevant documents to the insurance office.

He said police would stamp out corruption, maintain law and order and eradicate illicit liquor. Anti-social elements would be dealt with with an iron-hand, he added.

Kancheepuram District heads liquor sales in Tamil Nadu with 122 per cent increase in Tasmac shops, followed by Tiruvallur District.

The DIG said sand lorries going from Kancheepuram to Chennai should be covered with tarpaulins, failing which the vehicles would be impounded.

Police solve murder mystery

259 held for sale of lottery tickets in TN

Chennai, Feb 20 (UNI) In an special drive against sale of banned lottery tickets, police today arrested 259 persons all over the state and seized 29,670 lottery tickets and Rs 12,788 from them.
