Sonia meets injured at Safdarjung Hospital

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today visited the Safdarjung Hospital and met the eleven people injured in yesterday's Samjhauta Express blasts.

Ms Gandhi met all the eleven patients undergoing treatment at the burns ward of the Hospital and spoke to the doctor about the treatment being given to them, hospital sources said.

''She was very concerned about the health of the injured, particulary children including a one-year old girl and a nine-year old boy,'' sources added.

The Congress President, however, declined to speak to the mediapersons waiting outside the burns ward of the hospital.

The toll in the blasts on the Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express near Panipat in Haryana rose to 68 with the death of a 15-year-old Pakistani boy in the hospital this morning.

Many dignitaries, including Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and Pakistan High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik, yesterday visited the 12 injured who were admitted to the safdarjung Hospital.

Two railway staffers suspended for improper documentation

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Two staffers of the Railways have been suspended for improper documentation of the records of the passengers on the Samjhauta Express which caught fire yesterday at Diwana in Haryana. Two booking clerks of the railways were suspended last night for not maintaining proper records of the passengers travelling on the 'Friendship Train', a spokesperson of the Northern Railway said. New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Steel tycoon Laxmi Mittal today marked his entry into the oil refining business by snapping up 49 per cent stake in Guru Gobind Singh Refineries being constructed in Punjab by state-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).
