Samjhauta Exp explosion, attempt to derail Indo-Pak ties: JD(U)

Aurangabad, Feb 20 (UNI) Senior JD(U) leader Hari Kishore Singh today said the explosion in Samjhauta Express, allegedly triggered by terrorist outfits on Sunday, wwas an attempt to derail the Indo-Pak peace intiative for bilateral co-operation.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Singh said the Centre should take serious initiatives to ensure that the ongoing diplomatic dialogoue between the two countries should not get hampered due to terrorist activities.

''Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had initiated several steps to improve the Indo-Pak relations during the NDA regime. The UPA government is also engaged in dialogue with Pakistan to strengthen the bilateral ties which should be supported by all the political parties,'' he advocated.

''The forthcoming SAARC meeting will provide better opportunity to India to discuss the vital issues with its member countries which could have far reaching effect on multilateral co-operation in Asia'' he added.

JACC withdraws proposed road blockade

Shillong, Feb 20 (UNI) The Joint Action Coordination Committee (JACC) today called off their proposed indefinite night road blockade in Meghalaya from tomorrow. Previously, the JACC had called the strike to protest the high rate of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). The JACC delegation, led by its chairman A Shanpru, urged Transport Minister Manirul Islam Sarkar to reduce the rate of HSRP. The JACC decided to withdraw the strike following an assurance from the government in this regard. Mr Sarkar told.....
