Play teacher role for patients' families: Kalam asks nurses

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today asked nurses to play the role of the teacher for patients' families and take special care of at least 20 rural patients.

''We need good hearts to treat the ailing hearts, we need helping hands to remove the pain, and we need beautiful minds to give happiness to the patients,'' Dr Kalam said while inaugurating the 7th Asian Cardiac Nursing Conference here.

Dr Kalam advocated a six-point oath for the nursing community: ''I love my profession of nursing, the noble mission. I realize, removing the pain is the mission of God. I will treat all patients equally with kindness and care. I will take special care of at least 20 rural patients. I will be a life long learner in nursing. I will follow the motto -- Let my care, remove your pain and bring smiles.'' UNI

Troops concerned over people's health in the state

Imphal, Feb 21 (UNI) Troops in Manipur have undertaken various military action programmes to win over the hearts of the people in the insurgency ridden state. Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 12 (UNI) Hundreds of journalists today organised a massive rally at Kovvuru town in West Godavari district near here, in protest against the attacks on mediapersons recently.
