Patna HC directs Govt to monitor missing children's cases

Patna, Feb 20 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed Bihar government to constitute a committee headed by the Inspector General (CID) to monitor the investigation into cases of more than 200 missing children across the state.

While hearing a PIL petition, a division bench comprising Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad also directed the government to constitute state child rights commission and apprise the court of compliance on April second, 2005.

The bench asked the state government to file a detailed report on inter-state kidnapping cases on April 2, 2005. During the hearing, additional advocate general submitted before the court that the state government had taken several steps to recover 207 missing children across the state.

Primary teachers take to streets

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The All India Primary Teachers' Federation (ALPTF) today launched its two-day agitation to protest against the ''unjust'' provisions of the Model Right to Education Bill and press for their other demands. The demonstrators held a rally, which commenced at the Ram Lila Maidan, in which teachers from all across the country participated. Pastor sacked in Mizoram

Aizawl, Feb 20 (UNI) Kerala-based New Life Ministry has sacked the director of its Manipur branch Pastor C V John for his alleged involvemnt with a gospel singer. Mizoram Gospel Association sources said the 'scandal' of the popular Mizo singer came as a surprise to them. Pastor John was sacked on Friday as per a termination order from Chairman of Ministry Rev Darsanglien. Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) A local court today recorded two witnesses' statements and accepted applications by the defence and the prosecution in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi stand accused. Monica's driver Mukesh Sharma and ration card official Umashankar Verma deposed before Chief Judicial Magistrate Raveendra Singh.
