Naxals kill police patil

Nagpur, Feb 19 (UNI) Around five to six armed Naxalites killed a police patil, suspecting him to be a police informer, at village Kamke village in Gadchiroli district of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

A release from the Gadchiroli police said Naxalites in uniform caught hold of Dolu Tumka Jhure (42), a resident of Kamke in Etapalli Sub Division of the district, while he was standing in front of his house and took him to Halewara village square and killed him with a sharp weapon, suspecting him to be a police informer.

However, Gadchiroli police clarified that Jhure was not a police informer.

The Naxalites killed him only to spread terror, they said.

An offence has been registered at Kasansur Sub Police Station and further investigations are on.

Patna HC directs Govt to monitor missing children's cases

Patna, Feb 20 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed Bihar government to constitute a committee headed by the Inspector General (CID) to monitor the investigation into cases of more than 200 missing children across the state. While hearing a PIL petition, a division bench comprising Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad also directed the government to constitute state child rights commission and apprise the court of compliance on April second, 2005. Two govt employees arrested for accepting bribe

Patna, Feb 20 (UNI) Sleuths of state vigilance bureau today arrested a clerk and a block agriculture officer for accepting bribe in Patna and Nalanda respectively. Additional director general of state vigilance bureau Neelmani said the clerk, Deenesh Kumar, of district education superintendent office of Patna was arrested when he was taking Rs 10,000 from one Ajay Kumar against appointment on compassionate ground. In another case, block agriculture officer Deenesh Prasad Mandal was caught while accepting Rs 1000 from a farmer.....

Orissa vigilance detects Rs.15 crore tax evasion

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20 (UNI) The Orissa vigilance department has detected tax evasion to the tune of Rs.15.25 crore during raids in various business premises in the state in January. Vigilance sources said the sleuths conducted raids to different business houses in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Sambalpur, and Balasore divisions and detected tax evasion of sales tax to the tune of Rs.15.25 crore.
