Lalu should resign on Samjhauta tragedy: BJP

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The BJP today demanded the resignation of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on the issue of Samjhauta Express bomb blasts which left 68 persons dead and several injured.

''Rail Mantri Lalu should own moral responsibility for the tragedy,'' BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Vijay Kumar Malhotra said.

He was not expecting it coming from Lalu who had not resigned while facing charges in several scams, he added. ''A train tragedy is too small a thing for Mr Lalu,'' he said.

He said Samjhauta blasts had belied Lalu's earlier claim that there was full security on trains.

Jockey Silva Storai suspended for one year

The French jockey was pulled up for not permitting her mount 'Niccoletto' to run on its merit in the H Devereux Memorial Plate held on February 16. Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) An Assistant Commercial Tax Officer in Commercial Tax Office, Hassan, was caught redhanded by Karnataka Lokayukta sleuths while accepting bribe for showing official favour, Mr S G Suragimat was caught while accepting Rs 1,500 from Mr H C Shashidhar for issuing certificate to start his new business Shashi Enterprises in Hassan. Soz reviews AIBP schemes in suicide-prone districts

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today reviewed the status of 65 irrigation projects under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme in 31 identified farmers suicide-prone districts and appealed to the states to speed up work to overcome the problems faced by the farmers.
