Kisan Rally in Jaipur on Feb 22

Jaipur, Feb 20 (UNI) Lokthantrik Adhikar Morcha will organize a farmers rally in the state capital Jaipur on February 22.

CPM general secretary Prakash Karat, Hannan Maula MP and Kisan Sabha national general secretary Atual Anjan were among the national leaders expected to adress the rally.

The rally is organised by a conglomoration of Left affilitated farmers and trade union organisations to condemn the high-handedness of the state police and Raje government in dealing with the farmers agitation in Ganganagar.

Dulichand Meena state general secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha said the rally is organised to press their demand of releasing the farmers and farmer leaders languishing in jails and withdrawal of the criminal cases filed against them.

Lifting the ban demostrations and dharna at district headquarters and state capital and establishment of democratic rights of the people, aqequate electricity and water to the farmers, increasing incidents of atrocities on minorities, dalits, tribals and women under the BJP government in the state were the major concerns of the protestors.

JITM students develop solar lantern

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20 (UNI) A low cost solar powered battery charged LED Lanterns have been developed by the students of Jagannath Institute of Technology and Management (JITM), Orissa, in collaboration with the Engineers Without Borders(EWB) member students from University of Illinois. This has been specially developed for the benefit of the off-grid villages. JITM Director (Research and Development) Dhanandra Kumar Mishra told reporters here yesterday that the students have fabricated 80 prototype lamps for trial in the villages close.....

Security tightened at Gorakhpur Railway Station

Gorakhpur, Feb 20 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at the Gorakhpur Railway Station, following the bomb blasts in the Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has to participate in various railway programmes today in Chitauni, Bihar which comes under the same railway division. According to sources, a large number of security personnel have been pressed into round the clock service. Sniffer dog squads will now check the trains before it departs from the station.
